Six years ago today, a lifelong prayer of mine was answered. I became a mom! Since I was a little girl, that's all I ever wanted to be. This sweet SIX year old changed my life, my heart and has stretched and grown me more than I ever knew possible. I thank God every day for answering my prayer of motherhood, and for doing it in a most extraordinary way with this awesome kid!!!
I took him for a photo shoot this weekend and he rocked it!
We got some great ones!
His serious side...
Being at and on the railroad tracks was as cool as it gets for this guy!
This one's my favorite!
Things about Logan at 6:
-He is 47in tall, weighs in at 50lbs
-He's into Ninjago and anything super-hero related
-Still has a love for trains, real and play
-Loves dressing up (our costume box is growing!)
-Knows how to read independently, add, subtract, tell time and count money. I really have never met a kid more eager to learn. He craves knowledge and asks such great questions!
-Plays soccer and golf
-Wants to play tennis when soccer season ends
-Favorite games are Uno and Skip-Bo and he enjoys
a game of Rummikub when we have enough time.
He has always had the memory of an elephant... and it never ceases to amaze us when he brings up things he did when he was 2 and still remembers in full detail! And not just things we have pictures of, either! The other day he said, "Mom, remember when I was two and I woke up at 6 one morning. You weren't ready for me to get up so you laid in bed with me? You were pregnant and had just taken a shower because you came in my room with a towel on your head." Really??? I'm sure he's right about this because who could make up those details?!?! He brings up these kinds of memories often and we just have to smile! :-)
His grandparents (both sets) are still his favorite people in the whole world, after mom and dad of course. He adores all of them and has told me that the only thing he doesn't like about school is that
1. He doesn't get to see Grandma during the week when his brothers do
2. He doesn't get to go home with Grana and Papa when they come anymore
He is the best big brother. He loves, shows concern for and truly desires to "take care" of both of the littles... his tender heart is probably my favorite thing about him! I just cannot believe he's six and I'm really not liking this whole "school" thing... spending so much of his day with people other than me. I'm adjusting and getting used to it and him loving it is making it bearable, but I'm a little jealous of the time that he's there and working on being good with it. We went to Open House last week and these were two of the things he answered in his interviews with his teacher.
I love that he is happy with my cooking! :-)
If you can't make the picture bigger, it says
"I am special because of my family because God made them. My parents are nice and they cook for me, love me and take me places."
Dear Logan,
Happy 6th birthday little guy! You are such a blessing to our family and God knew exactly what he was doing when he made you the big brother in this family of boys... it's a role you are perfect in! There is so much to love about you and spending time with you really is a pleasure.
God has truly blessed you with a bright little mind and a very tender heart. I pray daily that those two things will be used to bring Him glory and that He will use you as a light in this world. May you always be filled with joy and love and know that the boundaries of the love our family has for you are endless! You have grown up so much this last year and it's been a lot of fun taking our conversations to the next level... and watching you develop your character and put our talks into action is such a treasure to me!
You are definitely a quality time kid. You love little gifts and special treats from the grandparents, but when it comes to what "fills your cup" it is definitely time. Playing a game and reading together are the two things that we have learned can keep you steady and help you feel loved. I can plan a great day of out-and-about go, go, go and you will be most satisfied with game-night after your shower... it's the little things and that makes you one fun little fella!
We love you buddy! Praying for a great year of Kindergarten where you can grow, learn, be challenged and have fun!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
