WAY Overdue

Back in February, we celebrated Ryan's dedication with family and friends. Some family came from New York and we were blessed to get to spend a fun 4 days with all of them. It was Aunt Colleen and Alison's first time to meet Ryan. Oh how he loved both of them!
Maureen was here too and because she had just visited in December, Logan was very playful with her and there was definitely no "warm up" time this visit!
Friday was the day for
The Children's Museum

My buddy
Grandma, Logan and Ali
Aunt Col was a HUGE help with Ryan. She would offer to do everything and I was happy to let her! Ryan took to her so quickly too so this made my day a lot more fun!Ryan got to participate some too. He LOVES mirrors!
and this was mesmerizing!

Logan and Ali had a lot of fun together on this trip...
a real bond the two of them have!

Saturday was Ryan's big day!

Ryan with his Godparents
Uncle Mike
The Grandparents
New York Pic... missing Great Grandma for sure!
(and a lot of others of course!)

Loving his Aunt Kelley
During the ceremony
So much love and support

How big is Ryan? SO big!!

After the service we celebrated with a lunch at a local restaurant! SO much better than all the work that goes into a party at the house. I was VERY thankful!! :-)
Debra and her girls
And he got to try icing for the first time...
Happy 6 months big guy!

My mom had an "after party" at her home that evening and served a great meal among both of our families and lots of friends. She is always a wonderful host and again, I was very thankful to not have to use my home this time!

Rachel and Joel joined in on the celebration!
And Ryan LOVES Aunt Rachel!
Opening gifts
Great pic of these two special people
I love the way he plays with his nephews!
Wonderful people!

The final night that they were here (though Maureen left earlier) my Aunt took us all out to eat for my early birthday dinner! Yummy Roadhouse!
Some cute pics from the table
I did NOT order this! Just saying...

Saying goodbye (so sad!)

The following weekend was my birthday. My parents watched the boys for the day and Jeff and I had a wonderful lunch at my favorite restaurant and then saw a mid-day movie! That was so nice and to top it off, my parents brought the boys to meet up with us later and we all went out to eat dinner. This year things were just perfect! I am healthy and I have a wonderful family, loving husband and two beautiful and healthy boys... what more could a woman want!?!?!

Friday Funnies

Last week while in a restaurant restroom with his Grana...

Enter first stall, poop on floor, go to second stall.
Logan begins to go potty and decides that #2 is in order. (at this point, bathroom empty)
Logan is talking to his Grana and another person (A) enters restroom. She happens to go into the stall that Logan passed up the first time because of the wonderful present that someone had left.

Logan: Is someone in there?
Grana: Yes, someone's in there.
L: Is she in the one with the poop on the floor?
G: Yes Logan, she is.
L: Hey what's your name?
A: (shares her name)
L: Is there poop on the floor in there?
A: Yes, there is.
L: Oh, I'm going one big, long poop right now.

From what I was told, the woman was very entertained and possibly burned some calories from her laughter during their conversation.

----------------------------------------------------------------

At the rodeo they have what's called a "birthing center" where all the pregnant animals are in labor or have just recently delivered their little babies. We got to see a pig give birth and then saw some pigs nursing on the momma pig.

L: Mommy, what is that pig doing?
M: Drinking milk from his mommy.
L: Oh, do you have milk like that for me to drink?
M: Um, no honey, I don't.

Guess if I'd nursed Ryan he may have a better idea of what was going on, but I left it at that, happily.

-------------------------------------------------

As we've been fighting some coughing around here, we've been trying to emphasize coughing into the elbow instead of the hand, to reduce the amount of germs spread. Of course, Logan has been very quick to remind mommy to cough into her elbow too! But...

Ryan laying on the living room floor...

R: coughing
L: (lays down next to him, whispering) Hey bubba, you need to cough into your elbow so you don't get others sick.
R: actually giggled, like 'yea right'
Logan took Ryan's arm and tried to put it up to his face and Ryan just rolled over.

L: (yelling) Mommy, Ryan's got a problem! His arm isn't long enough to cough into his elbow and he's spreading his germs! (in a voice like he's tattling)

Oh, the tattling I have to look forward to in the years to come! :-)

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hair Pulling- Ryan likes to grab hair so most of the time mommy's hair is UP! But when Logan likes to be close to brother...

sometimes screaming occurs!

Maybe his short haircut (that happened on accident!) will help with this for awhile!

Sweet friends

One of my old teaching buddies Catherine that has lived far from here the last few years made a visit to Texas last week. She comes to Texas pretty often, but Houston is a rare stop for her. I was so thrilled to be able to see her and her new little girl Kinsley... just 4 days older than Ryan. The little ones really enjoyed watching each other, and our conversation was absolutely wonderful! I was sad that Logan was sick and she didn't get to visit with him, but I'll admit our conversation was probably so strong because of his absence! :-)

Checking her out...
Showing off his new sitting skills
Tummy time together

Thanks to her wonderful mother-in-law for a great lunch and a warm, dry place to spend the rainy afternoon!

A BIG Family Day

Last Friday Jeff's dad finished up his treatments at MD Anderson! Whoo hoo! It was such a special day as a family. Jeff's sister came in on Thursday night, Jeff was off Friday and we all went to the final treatment together. Logan loved the great play area they have set up for kids, and we were all there to witness the ringing of the gong to celebrate the end of the 8 week ordeal!

We love you Papa!

After treatment, we headed out for lunch and then hit up some fun at the Rodeo. Thankfully, this was the Friday before Spring Break, so we were not only blessed with great weather, but a small crowd and short lines for everything Logan could have wanted to see and do!

Taking the tram from the parking lot.
(A little windy, but we were just happy to see the sun!)

Watching the livestock show

Petting zoo
He held on a conversation with the pot-belly!

Pony ride
Tractor Fun
Grana and Papa
Now, this is one big tire!

And then came the CARNIVAL!
This was a lot of fun because it was the first time Logan was actually able to ride on most of the rides and really participate. He wasn't scared one bit and really stuck with his whole "I can do it myself" which is a phase we're having a lot of fun with these days! (a bit of sarcasm for sure!)

Like here, he climbed the stairs to the top of this slide, all by himself!
And then his skinny little self came flipping down!
He ended at the bottom and the first words were,
"I want to go again!"

Riding the cars

His first "flying ride" with Aunt Kelley
And they went pretty high

Roller coaster with Daddy

Watching the pig races with mommy.
These were quite hilarious!
Cheering for pig #2

What a great way to take in the rodeo... celebrating a special day with family!

Go Texan Day

This post is a little late, but a few weeks ago, when the rodeo kicked off in Houston, Logan's preschool celebrated with "Go Texan Day." The kids got to dress as cowboys and they put on a little stick horse parade for guests!
The girl in the pink hat has a thing for Logan... when I was walking him back to class after the parade, she said, very boldly, "Logan, you're a cute cowboy!"

All smiles!

Andrew, Damon and Logan
Having some fun!

His buddy (and neighbor) Damon

Buddy Noah
(how cute is he?)

Later that day they had a real pony come for pictures, but mommy and Ryan didn't stay that long.

Seven Months

Yesterday Ryan turned 7 months old!

Each month that passes he changes so much! He still loves many of the same things and he is still quite a big boy, but that "little boy" personality is really starting to shine through and it won't be long before he is getting around on his own!

At 7 months, he...
-rolls, all over the place
-most often sleeps on his tummy now
-sits up unassisted for long periods of time
(when he does fall over, he just starts rolling around the room
until he gets stuck and can't go any further)
-takes a morning and afternoon nap with a short evening nap
-can push himself backwards in the walker
-actually jumps in his jumperoo, instead of just hanging
-enjoys Praise Baby and Baby Signing Time videos
-rides in a big boy carseat now, no more infant carrier for us!

We went to the doctor last week (he came down with croup) and he weighed in at 24lbs 2oz! He is in ALL 18 month clothes now and I'm really looking forward to starting him in some spring clothes... though the hand-me-downs will mostly be clothes from Logan's 2nd summer! Crazy, I know!! I am very thankful to my friend Kim for lending me some boy clothes to make it through the end of winter with, so that I didn't have to buy clothes for only a few months use!

As Ryan is starting to desire certain toys and make his way around the room in seconds, I am already starting to see him crawling by next month's post! Now we'll just have to see if he can get all that weight off the ground and be strong enough to carry it where he wants to go! :-)

Friday Funnies

While I'm getting ready to get out of the house one morning, and giving Logan some orders...

L: Mommy, you're running me crazy.
M: Do you mean I'm driving you crazy?
L: No mommy, I don't drive, I run. I don't know how to drive, so I say you're "running" me crazy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very sweet moment...

Before dinner last night, he walked around the table saying,

L: Mommy, I have to tell you something. I love God. (whisper)
Me: I love God too!
Logan: Grana, I have to tell you something. I love God. (whisper)
Grana: I love God too!

He went to each person, said it, and REQUIRED that you respond, "I love God too!"
