There's a first time for everything!

We've been seeing a lot of "firsts" around here this last week...

First tooth

First time to actually USE a sippy cup (not just chew on it!)

First time crawling
Which means it was time for this to be a part of our daily living.

First 'real' high fives

And as for the rest of the family...

We needed this for the first time this year

First sprinkler day (the grass was really thirsty)

First time we had pink eye in the house...
and we got it TWICE... same kid, two consecutive cases!
(No pictures though!)

I know there is so much more to come...
I'm just trying to keep up!

Post Chicken Pox

After Easter my brother came back into town.
Ryan still had the bumps, but was no longer contagious.

This is his new face, when you say "Ryan, smile!"

That same day, after lunch with Mike and Lauren, Logan had a birthday party to go to at 7 Acre Woods... one of our favorite places. They have a zip cord in the far back that he's never been able to do before and this time I couldn't keep him off of it! He was playing with a bunch of older boys and one kid actually said to him, "You're only 3? Man, I'm 6 and even I'm a little scared!"

Logan responded,
"Yeah, I know"

Always love a pony ride

And another new favorite... miniature golf. Oh let's just be glad daddy wasn't there though because Logan still thinks it's ok to move the ball with your hands to make a shot a little easier! :-)

Enjoying some pizza with Cameron

Wishing the birthday candles were his to blow out... I had to do some serious threatening to make sure he didn't ruin this moment for this sweet girl.

Happy Birthday Xena!

And thankfully, Spring is here! Beautiful weather for trips to the park and we've even been able to break out the bathing suit already... for Logan, not me! :-)

We went with my friend to her neighborhood splash pad and though Logan did finally admit he was cold, there really wasn't much stopping him from soaking up some fun!

Christine and Logan

This past week Logan managed to get pink eye. Hopefully we are now done with the sickies and can get on with enjoying this beautiful weather! Happy Spring!

Craziness

We have had a very busy last couple of weeks,
so I'm a little behind.

Easter was interesting this year!

This was the Tuesday before Easter, playing in the backyard!

And this was Thursday, just two days later...

That's right... the little (big) man got the chicken pox!
We had to do some big shuffling with our Easter plans because of course, you can't expose him to others and my brother, for one, has never had the chicken pox. So, although he did come into town, we had to work around seeing him as we also tried to make sure Logan didn't miss out on any of the Easter fun.

Decorating Eggs for the first time!
Our finished goods

On that Saturday I took Logan to his school's Easter festival. Let me tell you, they know how to throw a party! Three egg hunts, rock climbing, bounce houses, train rides, hat making, face painting... tons of fun packed into just a few hours! So glad he didn't have to miss out on this... thanks Grandma for keeping Ryan! :-)

Meeting the Easter Bunny
Sorry, but I thought this was funny.
It was the hottest day we've had this year:
too hot for shoes???

Train rides and snow cones with Damon and Ty
Taking a break during a hunt to check out the goods!

This hat making station was pretty cool...
more so for girls, but all the kids enjoyed it!

Decorating time!
Ta-da!!
Face-painting!
Clifford the Big Red Dog...
And Lily wanted to be Spiderman! I'm sure that was fun to get off!

He wanted to do the rock climbing from the minute we got there.
I was sure he wouldn't go through with it,
so we waited until the line was low...

As I was taking this picture, I was thinking,
"There's no way he'll go through with this!"
But, up he went!!!
And when the ledges got too far away from each other for him to reach, he was instructed to "just let go!"
SO FUN!!! He really surprised me with this one!
"Eggapalooza" was a blast and he's already mentioned going again next year!

Easter morning

Loving the eggs!
And the fake grass

That morning, Jeff took Logan to church while I stayed home with Ryan, then we switched in the afternoon so that I could take Logan to see my family.

Church friends

We went to my parents house for the day... always fun!
Waiting to hunt eggs!
The hunt is not very easy to photograph
He had to help me open all Ryan's Easter treats since he couldn't be there with us!
Playing

My Aunt Maureen receives the award for best gift I think...
Little investigator Logan...
he was calling himself "Special Agent Oso"
And he was able to help Grandpa out with his reading!
Easter Day was also my dad's birthday!
We went out to dinner before my brother hit the road for home.
And then gave him his birthday pie later that night!

It wasn't what we had planned and I was sad that we weren't even able to get a family picture that day (as we were never all at the same place) but it is what it is... and we'll always remember it!

The good news is Ryan is better now, his case of the pox wasn't ridiculous and we were still able to spend the holiday with family.

Friday Funnies- Sounding a little old for his age

Hope this makes you smile... being a parent is SO much fun! Logan is starting to sound very mature when he says things sometimes.

M: Come on Logan, we're going to be late.
L: Just relax mom, it's gonna be ok.

-------------------------------------------------------

L: I want a cheese stick (string cheese) please.
M: We don't have anymore
L: Oh, well let's just put it on the list and we can get more next time we go to Walmart. Isn't that a good idea?

-------------------------------------------------------

Ryan is really enjoying chewing on his big toes lately.

L: (In a very mature voice!)
Ryan, really, that's quite disgusting. You need to stop that.
You think I've had to say this to him a few times?

-------------------------------------------------------

Logan and Ryan stayed last week for a night at my parents. I packed their things in their usual bag but didn't realize that some stuff was still in there from their last visit.

M: Oh Logan, silly mommy left pullups in your bag this time. (He doesn't wear these anymore!)
L: Yeah mom, but it's ok, you'll do better next time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

When I got there he was at the park with my dad. When they returned he ran to me...

M: Oh Logan, I missed you.
L: I saw you when I was sleeping.
M: What was I doing?
L: Just being mommy.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryan has started making his consonant sounds, most often dadadada!

R: da da da da
L: Oh brother, you want daddy? He's at work. Mommy will have to do for now.

(Thanks, sweetheart!)

Friday Funny

I can only think of one at the moment...

Background: I cut my finger pretty badly the other night and ended up going to the clinic the next day and getting it taken care of... I had to get a tetanus booster shot.

Driving Logan home from school...

L: Mommy, why do you have a bandaid on your arm?
M: Because I went to the doctor today and had to get a shot.
L: Did you cry?
M: No, but it did hurt.
L: Yeah, shots hurt, but because you were a good girl, maybe we should go to Toys R Us and you can pick out a new train.
M: Oh, you think that's what I would want?
L: Yes, I think we should see if they have Annie and Clarabel (Thomas trains!) and that can be your present!

When Logan got his shots at his 3yr check up, I told him if he did a good job at the doctor then we would go get a train... and we did. Apparently, I earned a train too! How thoughtful of him! :-)

Friday Funnies

Watching college basketball the other night on tv...

L: Hey mommy, that guy has a 1 2 on his shirt.
M: Yes, he's #12
L: I know, but that's not Colt McCoy.

You think he watched a little bit of UT football this past fall????

----------------------------------------------------------------

So I leave Ryan downstairs in the jumperoo and Logan is watching a show. I ask Logan to stay downstairs with Ryan while I run up and change.

L: Comes into my room
M: What are you doing up here? You're supposed to be watching your brother.
L: But Dylan is watching him. (Dylan is our dog!)

I'm thinking, it's a good thing we have a jumperoo!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Logan saying his prayers at night with Jeff...

"Thank you for mommy and please help her to get some rest tonight and please help Logan stop saying no to mommy and daddy."
---------------------------------------------------------------

At a friend's house for a playdate yesterday, we were discussing where to take the kids for dinner. She says:
"Let me check my coupons."
Logan responds: I don't know that place, mom.
M: What place?
L: Let me check my coupons.

We laughed, he asked why we were laughing and then I had to explain that she was going to see if she had a coupon for any restaurants and then we would decide where we would go.

L: Oh, good, because I didn't think that place sounded good.
