Friday Funnies

Now that I'm doing these every Friday I am noticing how quickly each week goes by-- Crazy fast!!

Now onto the purpose of this post... to hopefully make you laugh and realize how absolutely awesome it is to be a mommy all day and listen to the things that come from a 3 yr old's mouth:

So, we are washing the van (yes, I know, the weather is not for washing cars, but my life is SO much better now that my car is not dripping dirt when it is raining!) and Logan is riding his bike around as if he is Thomas the Train... singing the theme song! I am on a step stool cleaning and then drying the roof and each time he comes to me he says...

"Trouble on the tracks! Move outta my way!"
Me: Ignoring him until he says please or excuse me
L: Finally realizes why I am not responding and says, "Excuse me, but you're in my way!"
M: I get down and let him pass.... with no response from him. SO

M: Logan, when someone does something for you, you are supposed to say thank you.
L: Thank you mommy
silence for just a moment and then...
L: Mommy, when someone says thank you, you are supposed to say you're welcome!

Don't you love being taught manners when that is in fact what you are trying to teach?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watching the Longhorns Volleyball game in the National Semifinals:

L:Mommy, all those people on tv are wearing Hook 'Em Horns
M: Yes, honey, that's the TX game on
L: That's not the Texas game (thinking that it is not football)
M: Yes it is honey, it's Longhorn volleyball
L: Oh, it is Hook 'Em Horns. Longhorn lollipop!

Obviously my kid has never heard of volleyball!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryan has been sick with a respiratory virus for the last week and keeping Logan at a distance has been challenging to say the least.

Me: Logan, please don't kiss your brother's face. He is sick!
L: He's not sick mommy, he's beautiful!

4 Months!

WOW! I cannot believe this little fella is 4 months old already!
He is such a joy and I'm loving how much more he is interacting with us.
Stats: 18lbs 8.1oz, 27 1/4 inches long
He is off the charts in size and wearing 9 months clothing already!
Some pictures of our growing boy!

In his bumbo:

In his doorway jumperoo
Just chillin'

Some great things I love...

-The way he now follows us with his eyes wherever we go
-How easily he will go to anyone and sleep anywhere
-The way he nuzzles his face into his lovie when it is time for sleep...like it's just the way it's supposed to be
-How calm he is when Logan is "bothering" him...
or at least doing things that would bother me!
-His talking... he is such a chatterbox and I just
wish I knew what it is he is trying to say!
-His easy-going nature... he really does just go with the flow
and that has made life with a new baby so pleasant.
-How turning on the mobile immediately calms him
when he wakes up fussing.
-When he is eating and stops to look up at you... gives a huge grin with that bottle just sitting in his mouth-a true precious moment, that I happen to have on video!

Again, something I have said many times, is that Logan is such a great big brother. He always wants to be with the baby and is very sweet when he talks to him. He pretends that he can understand his chatter and conversations between them usually go something like this...

L: Oh, brother. What do you want to watch?
R: cooing
L: Mommy, Ryan said he wants to watch Oso.
Right brother, you said Oso?
R: more cooing
L: Oh, baby boy, that's a good choice.
Mommy can you put Oso on for Ryan please and I will watch it with him?

I mean seriously, it doesn't get much cuter!!!!
Here is a photo and video of them in Ryan's crib together. Sometimes I can get 5 minutes to myself in the mornings or afternoons while Logan reads to, sings to, or just lays with the baby.

Ryan honey, you've brought so much joy into our home and into your brother's life. I always wondered how he would react when you arrived and all my hopes have been far exceeded. We love you so much. You are one tough little guy, having already battled swine flu and now rsv in your short life. I pray that we have a healthy holiday season with you as you continue to grow and bless our lives. We love you!

Friday Funnies

Oh wow... what a week! I really need to start writing things down because I know I'm not doing you all justice in my recordings of funny things said in this house! Here are just a couple of things...

While making oreo balls with me today...
Me: Logan you are such a good helper
L: Oh thanks for telling me that mommy. I like to be appreciated!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the kitchen...
L: Oh no mommy, we only have one banana left.
Me: Yes, I know, I forgot to get more at the store yesterday.
L: That's ok mom. When I'm 16 I'll drive to Walmart and get us some more.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier this week I was putting up some decorations and tripped, stepping on Logan's car case that was open. It hurt my foot pretty bad and I fell down trying to get control of the pain with my face buried in a pillow. Logan was very disturbed with me being hurt and then I said, "Oh my goodness, my foot is on fire!" (describing the pain I was feeling). That really threw him for a loop... seeing as there was no actual "fire"
He just kept saying:
"You're ok mommy"
"Get up mommy"
"Just get your face out of that pillow"
"Mommy, just stop being hurt and look up at me"
"There's no fire mommy. Your foot is not on fire"

His concern was quite precious and he brought up the fire thing again later but we really can't remember what was said...

I really do need to start writing these things down or just posting them more often than once a week! Hope you smiled!

Friday Funnies

While discussing Logan's school program this week, my mom asked, "Do the other kids in your class like to sing?"
Logan: No ______ likes to wiggle.
Mommy: Oh, does ______ like to sing? (naming another one of his buddies)
Logan: No, he just whines.
Mommy: Oh, do you whine at school?
Logan: No, I just talk a lot.

Talk a lot??? Why would a child of mine ever like to talk???

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier this week while I was in the shower, I set Logan up in the gameroom to watch a show with a snack. I always call to him whenever he is in another room and ask, "What are you doing Logan?" just to keep tabs on him. So I get out of the shower, call into the gameroom...

"Logan, what are you doing?"
Logan: "Picking my nose!"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tree decorating was quite an adventure of funny things!
For starters... I just think this picture is hilarious! He looks like a little elf!

Finding the tinsel (that I have only ever used for a tree in my classroom!)

Finding a good spot!

"No, we're not moving it mommy. It is perfectly beautiful right here!"

Yes, we eventually talked him into removing it in order to make room for more ornaments!

"Golf club" ornament + silver glass "ball"=
Disaster of glass that needs to be vacuumed!
"But mommy, I was just trying to play golf!"

And because Friday Funnies are almost always about Logan, here's a picture of Ryan just so you can be reminded how big and absolutely adorable he is!

Friday Funnies

Happy Thanksgiving to all... pics from our holiday to come next week!

For now, here is something funny!

Taking family pictures last Saturday, Logan begins to get irritated and starts to cry.

Grandma: Oh, don't cry in the pictures!
Logan: (crying more)
G: Fine, go ahead and get it out of your system.
L: I don't have a sister, I have a baby brother.

Friday Funnies- sort of!

Well, this isn't really a funny, but I have to record it and share!

Last week my mom was bribing Logan to take some pictures- as if we don't have enough! They were outside on his new swingset and the conversation went something like this:

Grandma: If you smile nicely on the glider, you can have 2 gummy bears when we get inside.
Logan: Ok... smiles nicely, picture taken.
G: Ok, now let's get on the swing and if you smile nicely you can have another 2 gummy bears.
L: Ok... smiles nicely, picture taken.
G: Ok, one more thing. Get on the slide and if you do this one, you can have 1 more gummy bear.
L: (without hesitating or being asked) Ok Grandma! That will be 5 gummy bears!

Seriously?!?! My boy is adding? We have NOT been working on this, but his little brain never ceases to amaze us!

And of course, as soon as they get back in the house, the boy gets his five gummy bears and puts all of them in his mouth at the same time! My mom said the look on his face when he tried to chew all that was quite hilarious!!

Another note: Yesterday, I locked Ryan's carseat into its base with Logan's hand stuck in between. After hearing the loudest scream to ever come out of Logan's mouth, removing the carseat so he could remove his hand, I was soothing him the best I could and kept apologizing to him- seriously, at first it looked like I may have broken his pinky! He responded, with a face full of tears, "Mommy, it's my fault. My hand shouldn't have been on Ryan's carseat."

3 Months

I can't believe 3 months have already gone by since this little man joined our family!

He is just the sweetest little thing and really is such a good baby. He comes and goes with us with little complaint and loves to be in the car, as long as it's moving! Now that we have survived swine flu with him, he is back to his happy self, smiling often, but usually very serious, taking in everything around him. We have some issues with tummy time, as he really just doesn't like that position much and would rather lay on his back and see the world around him! Sleeping through the night was improving greatly before he was sick, and then he started waking multiple times again. Good signs that he is getting better though, because his appetite has definitely returned and last night he slept almost 10 hours!

He loves his mobile in his crib, which is sometimes used to buy me a few more minutes before he eats again. Logan also really enjoys the mobile, and getting to lay in the crib and sing to or read to his baby brother. The love from the first days has not faded one bit as Logan is still VERY into all things involving Ryan. The holidays with the two of them are going to be full of joy this year!

Enjoying some play-mat time!

These were taken towards the end of him being sick,
so you can still see it in the eyes.

Watching big brother and Grandpa play Lincoln Logs... just a few more months and I'll be wrecking his creations!

Friday Funnies

I'm copying the "Friday Funnies" idea from friends Kirby and Avery and am so excited about recording the funny things that Logan says and does each week.

While jumping on the trampoline with him the other day the following dialogue took place:

Me: Man, I'm pooped!
L: Poop? Are you pooping? Mommy we don't poop in our pants, we poop on the potty.
Me: No honey, (while trying hard not to laugh) I'm pooped means that I'm tired.
L: Oh good, because we don't poop in our pants mommy!

Bumbo Fun!
This is one of Logan's favorite places to sit now. The funny thing is, his legs were so fat when he was a baby that he actually fits in it better now than he used to!

Halloween, Swine and so much more!

Let me preface this post by letting you know why it's almost mid November and I am just now finishing up posting about our October festivities! In short, we've been battling swine flu since Halloween night! It started with Logan, I sent Ryan to my parents to keep him healthy and he still ended up getting sick a couple of days later. When my mom called to tell me he had fever, I knew it would be swine too, but what I didn't realize is that my mom would get sick also! Thankfully Jeff and I have stayed healthy, but we do have prescriptions for Tamiflu sitting on the counter should either of us spike a fever!

So, let me get you all caught up on what happened BEFORE H1N1 infested our home!

Let's go in order...

FALL FESTIVAL

Getting this pic was pretty funny... this is just the best one!
Crime fighters!

Don't think Ryan liked his mask very much!

Logan loved his costume!

Showing off his muscles!
How cute are these princesses?
The cutest triplets ever!
Logan and Levi in their muscle suits!

Playing some carnival games

Climbing on the obstacle course...
and finishing on the slide!

The only time he was still was when he had to wait in line for the obstacle course!

This is pretty much what we saw the whole time we were there.

Batman in the jump house

Logan had a blast! He made it very clear that he was not ready to leave when it started getting dark and we headed to the car! I'm sure he's already looking forward to next year's festival!

A DAY AT THE FARM

Next in that week came our playgroup outing to Old McDonald's Farm. This was such a fun time for all of us. Thanks so much to mom for watching Ryan so that Logan and I could really enjoy our time with friends!

I would like to let you know that I did not make or even suggest that the little cowboy wear the cowboy hat. When we woke up that morning and I told Logan we were going to the farm for the day, he immediately went on the search for his cowboy hat. He wore it around the house from 7:30am, through the drive to my parents' house and kept it on the whole day! I surely didn't think that would happen, but am very grateful that I didn't end up having to carry it!

Mommy and Logan
Our little cowboy!
I LOVE this picture! He looked up to watch the birds and I just had to snap it... looks like he's saying the pledge, doesn't it?
Playing in the hay barn
Chasing the deer... he really did follow them until I made him stop!
All the kiddos waiting in line for the pony rides
Cuteness!
This was his favorite thing, by far!!
Feeding the goats
Climbing onto the massive play fort
Sliding fun!
Logan and Ashlyn... cuties!

Now how cute is this?
Holding hands on the way to eat lunch!
Elijah, Savannah and Logan

Sweaty boy waiting for the train!
Buddies
Logan and Daylen
All Aboard!

He smiled the whole ride!

Celebrating Daylen's Birthday!

After the farm, I ran some errands and the boys hung out at my mom's house.
How cute is this?

HALLOWEEN
The night before Halloween,
Logan spent the night at my parents' house.
He LOVES his train table there and as you can see, Husky now goes everywhere with him... even on the tracks!
And before coming home to go trick or treating, this is when the symptoms of swine started to show themselves. Poor kid was in for a rough night!

Family Photo

Grandma with her crime fighters!
Batman...
and Robin
Ready to go trick or treating!
Poor kid was so excited, did about 3 houses and decided he was done. He tried to go again and again with each of us, but the costumes freaked him out a bit and it was very obvious that he wasn't feeling really well. He ended up sitting with us to hand out candy for awhile and then joined Grandpa and Daddy inside watching the UT game.
